NEW SQUASH COURT PAINT SYSTEM
OUTCLASSES THE OPPOSITION
Squash court decorating specialist, Decorators Warehouse has launched a new, own label, water-based paint system that offers a drying time of approximately 24 hours and none of the ventilation and installation problems associated with normal solvent-based products.
The DWP Squash Court Paint System, created in partnership with the UK’s leading independent surface coatings manufacturer, Steyport, is applied in two stages with both an undercoat and topcoat to offer a hardwearing, smooth and aesthetically pleasing finish.
Andy Browning, Manager of Decorators Warehouse, said: “Although the traditional oil-based product is suitable for winter months, we wanted a quality water-based alternative for summer jobs when the actual decorating of squash courts can become unbearable due to heat and ventilation problems.
“We approached Steyport with the idea and worked very closely together to come up with a solution that was technically superior and that met all criteria. The end result is a quality, year-round system that can be chosen on its own merits when compared to other decorating products.”

TRAVIS PERKINS EXTENDS STEYPORT CONTRACT FOR OWN LABEL PAINTS
One of the UK’s leading builders’ merchants, Travis Perkins has extended its contract with Steyport for the production and delivery of own label paints and decorating sundries.
The agreement was concluded following comprehensive negotiations and a full competitor analysis. Orders will continue to be picked, packed and distributed from Steyport's Blackburn based factory.
Paints that will continue to be supplied include Contract Matt, Vinyl Matt and Vinyl Silk. Acrylic, Red Oxide and White Wood Primers. Gloss and Eggshell Paints. Masonry Paint, Stabilising Solution, Undercoat and Floor Paints, a range of fillers and distribution of decorating sundries.

STEYPORT BUCK NATIONAL TREND WITH TIMBERCARE SALES SUCCESS
Steyport, the independent Blackburn-based surface coatings manufacturer, has unveiled a 23 percent year-on-year increase in sales of its wood care product ranges – bucking a national downward trend that is heavily affecting confidence within the industry.
The company, which produces long lasting treatment for sheds, fences and gates, specifically for retailers and under its own recently launched Centurion Timbercare, say the figure depicts its growing presence in the marketplace.
“Commercial sensitivities mean I cannot divulge figures in terms of litres, but we are very happy with our performance and know our product range is selling very well in comparison to other manufacturers.” said Wendy Drake, Managing Director of Steyport.
“We have found a niche with high street retailers, large trade merchants and retail decorating sectors where the mixture of both quality and price is paramount. We intend to build on our success with targeted promotional activity that will see sales increase rapidly over the next year.”
Between September to November, Steyport is offering stockists the opportunity to order 40 five-litre cans of Centurion Timbercare in any combination of colours to be delivered by the end of October. A competitive price will then be offered on mixed pallet orders for March 2006 delivery.
Launched in May 2005, Centurion Timbercare is an ideal decorative coating for new, weathered or previously treated fences, sheds, gates and trellises.
The product is water-based, environmentally-friendly, easy-to-apply, low odour and harmless to plants and animals when dry and packaged in five-litre cans with colours including Country Brown, Dark Oak, Red Cedar and Woodland Green.

STEYPORT RAISES CENTURION OUTPUT BY ONE MILLION CANS PER ANNUM
Steyport will be producing an extra one million cans per year of Centurion Paints following a £150,000 investment in new storage tanks and two filling lines.
The move, which comes only four weeks after announcing details of a £500,000 warehouse extension, is required to meet widespread demand from large trade merchants and retail decorating sectors for all products across the range.
Overall, an extra 120,000 litres of raw materials can be stocked which not only raises stock levels but allows bulk deliveries, giving efficiencies in purchasing.
“The extra investment was essential to meet demands from the marketplace,” said Wendy Drake, Managing Director of Steyport. “And, in the long term, it will result in significant cost savings that can be reinvested to advance our products and services still further.
“The real benefactors of such a truly independent product are stockists and end-users who realise that a truly independent product exists that focuses on their customers requirements – quality and price.”
